This toothbrush isn't perfect, but I'll tell you why I gave it a five-star review. I received the product for free from Oral-B to test, but that's not why. The entire point of brushing your teeth is to make sure that you have a healthy mouth, and that is what I feel has been achieved beyond measure after using the 7000 for about 6 weeks. I have used an electric toothbrush before, but this was a long time ago, and I didn't notice much difference, so I thought I'd save a little money and go back to standard. Big mistake.During my last dentist appointment about 8 months ago, I reported very sensitive teeth (even with regular use of Sensodyne). My dentist also found two new cavities and aesthetically, I inquired about medical teeth whitening and was told that it wouldn't be a good idea if my teeth were already very sensitive to temperature. So flash forward. I get this fancy newfangled doohickey and give it a shot. It was actually quite fun to use, and it was nice to have the automatic timer there to ensure I was brushing thoroughly. When I can, I like the 30 second breaks, because most days I will go top teeth fronts for 30, top teeth backs for 30, top teeth biting surface and between teeth for 30, and then repeat on the bottom for a good 3 minute brush.I created a really good routine of flossing, brushing my teeth, brushing my tongue and finishing with mouth wash twice a day, thanks to the app and generally having the timer and various settings to help me become less sporadic about it all. I love that overall, I feel these are actions that I can keep up because they are becoming habitual. I recently went to the dentist again and it was a night and day difference. I still have a little sensitivity, but it doesn't prevent me from eating certain things, as it did before. My dentist has noticed tremendous improvement in my gum and teeth health. I have permanent retainers behind my upper and lower teeth, and they were not hard to get through, like they had been before. Even with fairly regular flossing before all this, they'd always been my trouble spot. I have all four of my wisdom teeth and they are looking really good, especially compared to my last visit. Overall, for my dentist to have noticed such a big difference, and even aesthetically to not feel the need for whitening anymore, I'm convinced this toothbrush and the overall plans that it creates for you are 5-star quality.My gripes about the product may be deal-breakers for you, but you can decide. Firstly, it is LOUD! I haven't had an electric toothbrush in a while, so I'm not sure how loud it is comparatively, but I bought a new plain toothbrush to use when I wake up early and my husband is still sleeping, because I worry it would wake him up. Secondly, I chipped a tooth about 10 years ago (tiny) and had it fixed with a small sealant. When I used the polishing brush head, it knocked the little sealant off, so my little chip is back. It's not really noticeable, but I still may have it fixed later. I didn't worry about it at my last appointment. I'll post a pic. It does have a red pressure meter, so you won't push too hard, so I actually found it pretty cool to know that it's still that powerful even without having to press very hard. Thirdly, it's a bit of tech overkill. I love that, because I'm a gadget geek, but not everyone will care about the app that automatically records when you brush (which, again, doesn't account for when I brush with my regular toothbrush when it's very early in the morning). Also, there's a travel case and a separate timer, even though the app has one too… I can see how it can be a bit much.I haven't had the battery issues I'm reading in other reviews, and again, I haven't tried other sonic toothbrushes or the previous iterations like the 5000, but from my experience with this particular brush, I can absolutely see how it stands alone in performance and savings on dental procedures, wisdom teeth removal and whitening products.
